POSITION SUMMARY: Under administrative direction and guidance provides comprehensive and professional neurological services to clients in clinical and procedural settings. Practice is distinguished by autonomy of practice and is characterized by both an increased complexity of clinical decision-making ability and greater skill in managing organizations and environments. Activities are carried out in accordance with the Scope and authorized by either the Kansas state board of nursing or Kansas state board of healing arts. The provider in this position demonstrates a high level of expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of the complex responses of individuals, families, or communities to actual or potential health problems, prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort.

REPORTS TO: Vice President of Clinic Operations. This position is non-exempt.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: May mentor or act as clinical supervisor to RN’s, LPN’s, Medical Assistants, etc.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
• In-depth knowledge of evidence-based practice and its application in the promotion of healthy outcomes.
• Advanced knowledge of pharmacology, especially as appropriate to specialty area.
• High level of skill in utilizing appropriate oral and written communication with clients, physicians, nurses, staff and community members.
• Expert skill in diagnosis and treatment of individuals, families or communities, including but not limited to interviewing and counseling clients and delegating/assigning duties to others.
• Proficient skill in the application of techniques, procedures and instruments according to recognized policies.
• Demonstrated evidence of considerable ability to exercise independent judgment.
• Demonstrated evidence of considerable ability to formulate clinical decisions to manage acute and chronic illness and promote wellness.

Job Requirements

Education and experience:
• Master’s degree graduate of an accredited school of nursing’s advanced practice program or an accredited physician assistant program.
• 1-2 years clinical experience preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in cooperative and collaborative professional relationships.

Licensure, registration or certification:
• Current active RN and APRN license in good standing from the Kansas State Board of Nursing; or
• Current active license to practice as a Physician Assistant from the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts
• Holds a number assigned by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA)
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support
