Job Summary:
NMC’s Information Technology (IT) department is responsible for ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support the hospital’s institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the mission of patient care. 

The Database Administrator’s (DBA) role is to plan, coordinate, and supervise all activities related to the integration of software programs and applications into organizational healthcare information systems. This individual is responsible for planning and coordinating the processes required for the provision of user applications and systems necessary for organizational operations. The DBA will also operate and tune Linux and Windows systems, servers and other system integration components to ensure high levels of availability and security of the core organizational applications. Performs other duties as assigned to assist with Information Technology department projects and operations. Provides on-call support for information technology and systems users as required.  Under general direction, demonstrates skills in providing solutions to complex computer related problems:

1. Includes problem recognition, isolation, resolution and follow up steps.
2. Is adept in all aspects of customer service.
3. Displays an in-depth knowledge of company policies and procedures.
4. May use diagnostic tools.
5. May require in-person, hands-on help at the desktop.
This position reports to the Application’s Manager. This position is salaried (exempt).

Job Requirements


• High School diploma or equivalent, and/or 3 years work experience in related field required.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or appropriate related field preferred.


• Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux and Windows systems and software.
• Hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting experience.
• Strong technical experience with Relational, hierarchical and object oriented database architectures and structures.
• Strong knowledge of database concepts including tables, data types, instances, fields, connection strings, and records.
• Strong knowledge of system testing and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies.
• Strong understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
• Working knowledge of systems interfaces.
• Working knowledge of basic business principles and business and industry-specific terminology.
• Working knowledge of business case analysis.
• Previous experience in health care application integration and knowledge of healthcare messaging standards such as HL7, X12, DICOM, networks, transports, and TCP/IP.
• Experience with healthcare systems and technology.
• Experience in one or more of the following languages; SQL, MSQL, Java Script.
