A staff Physical Therapist assumes responsibility in the daily activities of therapy services. This includes the evaluating and developing treatment plans for home health patients. A staff therapist administers physical therapy treatment to patients as defined in the Kansas Physical Therapy Practice Act. A staff therapist has the responsibility for the overall case management of their patients including but not limited to evaluation, treatments, and supervision of Physical Therapy Assistants. In addition, the staff therapist is responsible for documenting as necessary and appropriate in a timely manner.

This position reports to the Clinical Manager or Administrator.

This position is hourly (nonexempt).

Knowledge and skills:
1. Must know principles and practice of Physical Therapy; be familiar with the American Physical Therapy Association Code of Ethics; be familiar with department/facility policies, procedures, regulations, and layout; be aware of inter and intra department/facility communications; be able to apply supervision and management techniques.
2. Must be able to apply the theory of Physical Therapy; have the ability and competency to operate the equipment of his or her position; be able to perform technical procedures; be able to speak intelligently and in a professional manner before others; demonstrate supervision and management skills.

Job Requirements

Education and experience:
1. Is a graduate of a physical therapy curriculum approved by; The Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), Successor organizations of CAPTE, or an education program outside of the United States
determined to be substantially equivalent to physical therapist entry level education in the United States by a credentials evaluation program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association an organization identified in 8 CFR 212.15(e) as it relates to physical therapist.
2. Passed an examination for physical therapists approved by the state in which physical therapy services are provided
3. Meets the requirements of §484.115 Condition of participation: Personnel qualifications (h) in the Home Health Conditions of Participations
4. A minimum of two (2) years’ experience is required

Licensure, registration or certification:
1. Must have, or be eligible for, State Licensure. Licensure must be obtained as per state law.
2. Must have, or immediately obtain CPR and CPI certification. Must maintain CPR and CPI certification.

1. Valid Kansas driver’s license and proof of auto insurance required.
2. Automobile in good working condition as driving to patient homes is required.
3. Ability and willingness to drive within service area according to departmental policy.
